Nintendo Raises Switch 2 Console Prices Worldwide

Nintendo has announced that the price of its Switch 2 console will be increased in all key regions beginning in September. The facts were revealed in an official statement on their company website, and we now know that the Switch 2 moves from $449.99 to $499.99 in the United States on September 1. Canada will follow the same trend, increasing from 629.99 to 679.99. Meanwhile, in Europe, it’ll price 499.99 euros rather than 469.99 when September arrives. The UK pricing is still unknown, but we should receive a separate announcement later.
Local buyers in Japan will have to spend 59,980 yen for the Japanese Switch 2 starting May 25th, which is 10,000 yen more than the current pricing of 49,980 yen for the Japanese model. However, the multi-language version will remain at the old pricing. The original Switch models, which are only offered in Japan, will also see a price increase on the same day, adding around 10,000 yen overall. Things get rough for Japanese Switch online customers starting July 1. A single month’s access will now cost 400 yen rather than 306, 12-month family subscriptions will rise from 4,500 yen to 5,800 yen, and expansion pack options will be priced similarly to the rest.

Nintendo Switch 2 System
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
The company cited shifting market conditions and the overall economic situation as the reasons for the price increase. The price of memory chips and storage has risen because everyone in the computer industry is competing for the same parts, which, along with supply chain pressures and legislative changes, has made it inevitable. They basically came out and stated they regretted the news, apologized for the impact on their clients, and asked people to be patient with them.
For anyone who still wants to buy their Switch 2 at the old pricing, the window is narrowing; in the United States and Europe, shops will honor the cheaper prices until the end of August. However, some limited-time bargains, such as the current Super Mario Galaxy bundle reduced by select retailers, expire even sooner. By September, those offers are gone, as is the previous console price.
