Lexus TZ Electric SUV
Lexus has rolled out the TZ as its entry into the world of full-size electric family haulers. The vehicle arrives with six dedicated seats spread across three rows and focuses on everyday usability rather than flashy extras. Those who haul kids, gear, and groceries on a regular basis will find plenty to like here.

Designers chose a sleek design in which the body slices through the air with a drag coefficient of 0.27. The vehicle is 5,100 millimeters long and 1,990 millimeters wide, with a 3,050-millimeter wheelbase that allows the cabin to expand without making the SUV seem cramped in compact spaces. When you put on the optional rear steering system, the turning radius is reduced to 5.4 meters. A recognizable spindle grille at the front is complemented by robust twin lights and some clever aerowheels in 20- or 22-inch widths that keep the ride quite calm.

When the doors open, you’re welcomed by an interior that expands in ways that many three-row SUVs can only dream of. There are no complaints about the second-row captain’s chairs, which slide and recline with power footrests to create a genuine lounge seat. The third row provides considerable head and leg room for adults on long car excursions. A single massive sunroof spans over each row, allowing natural light to permeate the area (no more cramped rear rows here). You get stylish-looking forged bamboo panels and recycled aluminum trim on the dashboard, doors, and pretty much everywhere else, which absorbs sound quite well and keeps the interior quiet even at highway speeds.

Power comes from two electric motors in the front and rear, which produce 227 horsepower and 268.6 Newton-meters of torque, all directed through the DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system. The TZ accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and weighs 2,630 kg, but it nevertheless handles well because to the large battery’s low placement. You may experiment with five different levels of regen braking, as well as an interactive manual mode that simulates an eight-speed transmission for when you need a little more control on curvy roads. For good measure, you can add an optional dynamic rear steering system to improve handling as needed.

A 95.8 kWh lithium-ion battery runs the entire operation. Official numbers show a maximum range of 530 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. The 150 kW DC fast charger charges the pack from 10 to 80 percent in around 35 minutes, while a 22 kW onboard device handles slower home charging. Some variants will include an optional 76.96 kWh battery pack for buyers seeking a lower-cost option without sacrificing range. Cargo space starts at 290 liters behind the third row and increases to 2,017 liters when the rear seats are folded flat. When correctly set up, you can tow up to 1,500 kg. Heavy objects slide in and out easily because to the low floor and level load area.

The screen takes center stage without totally obscuring the driver’s vision. A 14-inch center display running the Lexus Arena software platform is crisp, and the graphics and reflexes are sharp. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wirelessly linked, and the car will automatically receive all of the latest upgrades, keeping everything up to current. If you opt for the top-of-the-line 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, the cabin is filled with excellent sound. The safety features are top-notch, with the most recent Lexus Safety System+ package including significant enhancements such as improved detection, adaptive cruise control that reacts to traffic, and lane tracing that works well in city areas.

Lexus plans to debut the TZ in Japan this winter, 2026, before expanding to Europe in 2027. North America will follow the same timeframe, though the exact date has yet to be determined. There is no word on pricing yet, but it is apparent that the TZ’s mix of spaciousness, range, and towing capacity makes it a very viable alternative to compact crossovers for families that require a little more from their vehicle.
