Motorola Razr Fold is Company’s First Book-Like Foldable Smartphone, Launches May 14th for $1,900

Motorola has officially unveiled all of the specifics about their new book-style foldable phone, the Razr Fold, and if you live in the United States, you’ll have to pay $1,900 for it. This is the company’s first foray into book-like foldable phones, providing all the space of a tablet while yet fitting in your pocket.
When you close the Razr Fold, it is roughly the size of a credit card, 6.3 inches tall, 2.9 inches wide, and 0.4 inches thick; but, when you open the hinge, you have an 8.1 inch display in front of you, with a thickness of only 0.2 inches. It has some heaviness, weighing 243 grams, but it doesn’t feel excessively heavy. Then there’s the protection: it has an IP 49 classification, which means it’s dust and water resistant to some extent. They sell it in two colors: Lily white and dark blue.

The panels on this device are impressive, with the inner primary screen being 8.1 inches diagonally, with a resolution of 2,484 x 2,232 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It also produces a staggering 6,200 nits of brightness, which is more than sufficient to see what you’re doing even in direct sunshine. On the outside, there’s a 6.6-inch cover display with a 165Hz refresh rate and up to 6,000 nits brightness, and both panels employ premium pOLED technology. A layer of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 provides additional protection to the cover display.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage come as standard. The battery life is impressive, at 6,000 milliamp hours, with the extra benefit of silicon-carbon technology to aid the battery. To top it all off, you get 80w fast charging, 50w wireless charging, and 5w reverse wireless charging.

Photography features include three fifty-megapixel sensors at the back that cover a wide-angle shot and a 3x optical zoom, ideal for taking amazing photos on the fly. Selfie enthusiasts are not forgotten, with a twenty megapixel hole punch camera on the front cover and a thirty-two megapixel snapper on the inner display for taking high-quality self-portraits. The phone comes preinstalled with the latest Android 16 OS, which means you can expect 7 major upgrades and 7 years of top-tier security fixes to keep your device secure. Plus, Motorola is including support for its Moto Pen Ultra stylus, which is sold separately for $99. This bad boy has pressure sensitivity, tilt recognition, and palm rejection, so you can easily doodle notes or edit photographs on the fly with that enormous and gorgeous inside screen.

Other noticeable additions include dual speakers and several mics for excellent music and call quality, and you can bet your bottom dollar that it’s all backed up by 5G connectivity and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for rapid phone unlocking. Preorders begin on May 14th, and the phone will go on general sale shortly after. Those that get a first look at the device before it hits the shelves claim it’s constructed like a tank and feels extremely comfortable in their hand.
