Man Utd urged to sign £100m England star ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool | Football
Louis Saha has named the England player he would ‘love’ Manchester United to sign this summer.
United will likely be able to offer potential new signings Champions League football after climbing to third in the Premier League under caretaker boss Michael Carrick.
The Red Devils are yet to decide who will be Ruben Amorim’s permanent replacement but Carrick has emerged as the frontrunner for the Old Trafford job.
Whichever manager is in charge will hope to bolster the United squad in the summer, with a central midfielder one of the key additions ahead of Casemiro’s departure at the end of the season.
But Saha also wants Manchester United to strengthen in the attacking areas and says he would ‘love’ his former club to sign Newcastle United and England winger Anthony Gordon.
Gordon has been one of the most electric wingers in the Premier League since his £45m move from Everton in 2023, scoring 17 goals this season in all competitions.
Arsenal and Liverpool are both admirers of the 25-year-old England star and Newcastle, aware of the substantial interest in Gordon, value him at £100m.

‘Anthony Gordon is still a young lad and he has to consider his future on a base of stability and repay the trust that he’s got from his manager,’ Saha said.
‘His tournament at the World Cup may change and speed up a little bit. I would love to see a bit more consistency from him, but I would love to see him at Manchester United as well.
‘He’s definitely a big asset. I’d like to see him play at the highest level for two seasons, then join a club like United and have a big impact.’
While Saha would ‘love’ to see Gordon move to Old Trafford, he views his England teammate Jude Bellingham as his ‘dream signing’ for the Red Devils.
‘My dream summer signing for Manchester United would be Jude Bellingham,’ Saha told Ozoon. ‘It’s a crazy idea, but he has everything.
‘I’d absolutely love to see it. His athleticism is, I think, the best in the world. He’s able to play in many roles, including number 8 or number 10.
‘He has a sense of leadership, he’d definitely be a leader, a bit like Bruno Fernandes in some ways. He’s definitely in that bracket of world-class players.
‘All these qualities would be amazing for United, and I think he’d love to return to England and play in the Premier League. So, it would be a dream.
‘Obviously, players like Bruno Guimaraes or Sandro Tonali are maybe more reachable and definitely able to do a great job for us.
‘They also have leadership and aggressiveness, but are they able to play many roles and score goals as well? But United have found a kind of balance, and those players would improve it.’
On Manchester United’s marked improvement under his former teammate Carrick, Saha added: ‘We can all see how they have improved and they can start thinking about the Champions League next year now.
‘They have momentum and stability. Everything seems to be in place. They are facing good teams and sometimes decisions haven’t gone their way, but Michael Carrick is saying and doing the right things, let’s hope that this continues.’
After an unusual 24-day hiatus during the international break, Manchester United finally resume their Premier League campaign on April 12 against Leeds United.
