385TB Myrient Video Game Archive Saved
This morning, word traveled quickly over the social media that a group of dedicated fans had obtained a complete copy of the Myrient Video Game Archive just in time. With 385TB and thousands of games spanning dozens of platforms, these fans faced a daunting task. Atari ST classics, PS3 and Xbox 360 games, Nintendo Wii U games, and much more are now safely stored on hard drives, due to a small group of people who refused to let it all fade to black.

Myrient had been discreetly supporting the emulation community since 2022, but the costs of continuing had become too high to overlook. Monthly fees had more than risen to a whopping $6,000, and the constant effort to keep ahead of contribution prompts was leading download tactics to rack up extra bandwidth charges for no discernible benefit. Hardware storage fees were also rising due to increased demand from other businesses, and the owners eventually determined it made no sense to continue operating.

Last month, it was announced that the servers would be shut down on March 31st, and the community wasted no time. A group of fans had already begun organizing in a Reddit thread called Save Myrient, and the clock was ticking. Then, on March 12th, a Pirat_Nation post on X confirmed what everyone had been waiting for: the community had successfully made a full copy of the archive. The news quickly spread on the internet.

Not a single file was lost throughout the copying process, and with the difficult portion completed, the Myrient team promptly went to work creating torrent files for distribution and finding a new internet home for the collection. What this community accomplished under such tight timelines is nothing short of astounding, ensuring that a magnificent library of gaming history is now safe and secure for years to come.
