Mum of Cheltenham-winning jockey pleads for him to get a girlfriend live on TV
Tom Bellamy ran the race of his live on the third day of Cheltenham with his mum urging him to find a girlfriend moments after his victory.
White Noise stunned punters as he crossed the finishing line in first place in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle in the opening action on day three at Prestbury Park.
Priced at an incredible 40/1, Bellamy was lost for words in his post-race interview, telling ITV: ‘I am speechless. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this day.’
With team members, trainers and family celebrating the triumph, ITV’s Matt Chapman sought out Tom’s mum Susan.
“It’s what dreams are made of!’ she said.
“It’s amazing, a big price, great for the yard, the lads, the lasses and the mother who has to put up with him on the way home because it has gone badly.’
Chapman then asked what it will mean for her son going forward, perhaps with the next steps in his racing career in mind.
Instead, Susan replied: ‘A girlfriend? Anyone out there… he’s a nice lad!’
Oldschool Outlaw (15-2) and Place De La Nation (28-1) finished second and third respectively behind White Noise in what was the biggest shock of the day on St Patrick’s Thursday.
Meetmebythesea strode to victory in the Novice’s Chase with Wodhooh getting Gordon Elliott’s Festival up and running by winning the Close Brothers Mares’ Hurdle.
