Figure’s latest demo demonstrates how its humanoid robot, powered by the Helix 02 System, cleans up a simulated living room on its own, moving at a very human-like speed without any human guidance. The entire system, a single neural network, handles everything from the moment the cameras detect the image to making decisions and directing how each of its joints moves. There are no separate programs teaching it how to walk or pick things up since it just learns from the data it has already been trained on.

The robot can be observed walking throughout the room, gathering up toys scattered on the floor. It collects a pile of blocks and shoves them into a bin before tucking the bin under one arm so it can pick up more. It puts a cushion back on the couch in one quick smooth move, then unclips a towel from its arm, repositions it for a better grasp, wipes down a dirty area, sprays it with cleaner, then flicks the towel over its shoulder to free up both arms.

Its navigation is extremely precise even when it is trying to squeeze into tiny spaces while keeping its hands busy. The robot dodges around a coffee table and a couch without skipping a beat before repositioning a remote control in its grasp to press the correct button and turning off the TV. When it comes to things like towels and pillows, which are all soft and unpredictable, it handles them with ease because they all follow the same sequence of movements.

The Helix 02 system uses the raw input from the cameras to control the entire body, allowing it to tie together a variety of motions across a room. Adding new jobs is as simple as adding more data to the mix; there is no need to write bespoke code or configure unique controls for each and every activity. We’ve seen prior examples of it completing kitchen tasks like clearing the dishwasher for several minutes at a period, but this one shows it tackling a living room full of various objects, restricted routes, and things that demand dynamic interactions.

Figure illustrates this as scalable humanoid intelligence, with each additional example contributed to the training process boosting the system’s capabilities. The company’s mission is to develop robots that can execute all of the everyday household and workplace tasks that need to be done on a regular basis.
