Nothing Phone (4a) Pro Base Launch
The Nothing Phone (4a) series kicks off a new wave of ambition in the mid-range arena. Nothing launched two new models today: the standard Phone (4a) and the more advanced Phone (4a) Pro. These phones offer a variety of design styles, notification systems, and performance options while remaining true to their basic values of clean software and long-lasting battery life.

Nothing maintains its unique approach while making little changes here and there. The basic Phone (4a) retains the see-through back, which allows you to see the inside components, such as the battery and those beautiful visible screws. A new Glyph Bar runs down one side, with 63 tiny mini-LEDs organized into six square blocks and nine single lights. These LEDs are used for a variety of purposes on phones, including notifications, charging progress, and timers. They also serve as a mild fill light when capturing images. These little lights can reach 3500 nits for a crystal-clear display in direct sunlight, with no leakage or color errors.

The Phone (4a) Pro takes a different approach, opting for an opaque aluminum body in silver, black, or pink. The only area of transparency is around the camera module, which has a bigger Glyph Matrix inspired by higher-end versions. This matrix features 137 mini-LEDs, which is more than twice as many as the ordinary one has. This implies that you may now experiment with far more intricate patterns, animations, and custom alarms. The Pro variant seems even smaller at around 8mm thick and has IP65 dust and water protection (compared to the Phone (4a) model’s IP64 rating).

Both the standard and Pro models use the same large and bright AMOLED panels, with thin bezels and a camera in the middle. The regular model’s 6.78-inch display has a resolution of 1224 x 2720, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 4500 nits of peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The Pro model features a 6.83-inch panel with 1260 x 2800 resolution, 144Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 5000 nits peak brightness, making scrolling and viewing outside much more enjoyable.

Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are used in both as well, although the standard model has the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage for silky-smooth app launch and multitasking. It comes in three sizes: 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB, giving you lots of options. The Pro variant, on the other hand, features a more powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor and quicker LPDDR5X RAM to make demanding tasks easier.

The battery life reaches 5080 mAh with 50W cable charging, which gets you to 60% in just 30 minutes, and there’s also 7.5W reverse charging for charging other devices with your phone. Real-world usage will normally provide you with roughly 17 hours of combined activity such as video, gaming, and chatting. There is no wireless charging, alas.

In terms of cameras, both the regular and Pro models include the same 50MP primary sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide. However, the 50MP periscope telephoto on both increases the optical zoom to 3.5x. The standard model has a hybrid zoom limit of 70x, while the Pro increases it to 140x. A 32MP front camera is mounted for selfies, and Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 4 provides AI-brain features like as Photo Eraser for quickly deleting undesired items, Ultra XDR for balanced contrast, and expert presets for people who know what they’re doing.

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro Base Launch
Nothing OS, based on Android 16, is a distraction-free operating system that runs on either phone and has a very minimalist design. It includes a number of useful features, like customized lock screens, Live Notifications that are linked to the Glyphs system, and several useful AI tools, such as voice typing for rapid text editing and Essential Space, which allows you to easily search through snaps across all of your devices. You will also receive three years of major system updates and six years of security patches, which should provide some peace of mind.
