Alpine A310 VISION Concept Electric Supercar
Alpine unveiled the A310 Vision at the Paris Motor Show as a one-off study that marks fifty-five years since the original A310 arrived and fifty years since its V6 version joined the range. The concept takes the rear-engined coupe that once sat against the Porsche 911 and stretches it into a low, wide form that keeps the classic presence while updating every proportion for an electric layout.

Designers kickstarted the project by parking an original A310 in the studio as a constant reference, and then combined the clean lines of the original small four-cylinder car with the wider track and fuller, curvier flanks of the later V6 models. Alpine’s head of design, Antony Villiers, believes that the early version was super pure and instantly recognizable, whereas the V6 had a little more punch, so the team combined the two and rounded off the sharp edges of the original into a single, flowing surface that wraps itself across the aluminum bodywork, above a black lower section with forms inspired by Formula One work, and a semi-transparent bubble cabin that allows you to see right into the interior.

The A310 Vision is 4.55 meters long and 2.03 meters wide at the back, but just 1.18 meters height, making it just a few centimeters taller than its predecessor but longer and wider. Pop-up headlights remain flush until the engine is started, then drop into place, entirely transforming the appearance of the car in an instant. An S-duct directs air through the bonnet, a center blade attracts your gaze to the back, and a split rear wing with a transparent section in the middle rests atop blade-shaped taillights and a large diffuser. The A-shaped wheels are reminiscent of the full metal rims seen on the early A310s, and the back is an aluminum clamshell rather than a large glass panel.

Inside, the seats are organically contoured and available in vibrant colors, along with real controls that resemble those found on a high-end audio system. It’s still a true 2-seater, just like the vehicle outside, rather than the original’s more practical 2+2 layout, which simply keeps the focus on the driver in the low-slung cockpit. The Alpine Performance Platform serves as the foundation for the future all-electric A110.

The chassis is made of aluminum and strengthened with a combination of bonding and riveting, and the battery is divided into two packs to keep the silhouette as low as possible and the driving position elevated. The weight distribution is 40:60 front-to-rear, and its modular construction allows for a multitude of engine choices based on 800-volt technology, though Alpine has not published any power, range, or battery specs for this particular concept car. However, the platform can easily accommodate outputs of up to 450 horsepower.

Officially, the A310 Vision is described as a wild creative exercise in exploring legacy rather than a production automobile, but that hasn’t prevented some from wondering if a version of the car that leaves the show stand is in the works. Antoine Villiers has also hinted that limited-edition special projects could be built on the same platform, and Alpine’s intentions for a four-seater A310 remain unchanged until later this decade. This concept demonstrates how far the platform can go, giving true French sports-car drama in a format that has fans eagerly anticipating its production.
