Pikachu, Sylveon, and a Poké Ball Walk Into a Camera Shop for New Polaroid x Pokémon Special Edition Collaboration

Polaroid and Pokémon just announced a nine-piece limited collection that turns three existing instant cameras, matching film packs, and a handful of accessories into Pokémon-themed keepsakes for the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

Polaroid claims that this new lineup is its most ambitious partnership to date, and three cameras are at the heart of it. The full-size Polaroid Now Gen3 is now available in a very eye-catching finish, specifically vibrant red, white, and black, reminiscent of a classic Poké Ball. Finally, it has the same Poké Ball as a shutter button, which is a great touch. The price will be $139.99, and the good news is that it works with normal i-Type film.

Along with this, there are two smaller variants of the Polaroid Go Gen3 camera. One stands out with a bright yellow body covered in line drawings of Pikachu and a button shaped like the Pokémon’s lightning bolt tail, along with a matching strap to wear around your wrist. The other borrows Sylveon’s stylish pink, white, and blue color scheme and even has matching strap accents. These smaller variants cost $99.99. Oh, and both Go models include the same Poké Ball-style shutter button.

To round out the experience, Polaroid offers customized film packs. The color i-Type Film in the Pokémon Edition costs $22.99 and frames each photo with silhouettes of characters such as Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Gengar, and many more. Then there are two packs of Go-format film in Pikachu and Sylveon variants for $24.99 each, with character drawings on the border. Furthermore, each pack produces a special dark slide with a Pokémon silhouette on it, which makes for great small souvenirs, in my opinion.

In terms of accessories, there are three new additions to the lineup. You have a Go camera case that looks like a Poké Ball and costs $24.99. A similar Poké Ball-shaped photo album costs $24.99, and a universal camera strap with a strong red and white design that fits all three cameras costs $14.99. Starting August 25, you can pre-order the entire collection at polaroid.com at Pokémon Center locations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Then on October 5th, it will become publicly available.

Now, it is worth noting that these new cameras are not significantly different from previous models. The only modifications are to the outer covers, straps, film borders, and dark slides; the remainder of the camera stays largely unchanged. So, if you already own one of the Now or Go cameras, all you have to worry about is buying the appropriate film and accessories. Those who are new to the game can purchase a complete set that allows them to turn each shot into a small piece of memorabilia stamped with a Pokémon character’s image.
