Caoimhin Kelleher has been left out of the Brentford squad taking on Burnley in the Premier League this afternoon.

Brentford are looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Brighton last weekend and keep alive their hopes of European football next season.

Keith Andrews’ side start the day in seventh place, but could cut the gap between themselves and fifth-place Chelsea to just two points with a win at Turf Moor against relegation-threatened Burnely.

However, the Bees have been dealt a major blow before kick-off after Kelleher was not named in the squad making the trip up north to take on Scot Parker’s side.

The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper has been ever-present this season since joining from Liverpool over the summer.

However, thankfully for Brentford, the 27-year-old’s absence is not injury-related and instead a result of his partner giving birth.

Speaking before kick-off, Andrews said: ‘Caoimhin’s partner had a baby. We are delighted for them and we wish them well but he couldn’t play today.’
