Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept Leaks, Blurs the Line Between Laptop and Tablet

The Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC concept is one of the most intriguing things Lenovo has planned for MWC 2026. Some leaked renders from technology insider Evan Blass show us a laptop that still looks like a laptop on the outside, with the same familiar clamshell design, but on the inside it has been entirely flipped on its head.

When you lift the lid, you’ll see the expected display on top, but what’s underneath is extremely unique, as the section below, where you’d normally find a fixed keyboard, has been changed into effectively a modular bay. This little region may accept a variety of inserts that simply snap into place, allowing you to select the one you need based on the task at hand.

One module has a full-on conventional keyboard, so it’s similar to any other Lenovo ThinkBook in that it has a nice keyboard to type on, which is great for cranking out documents or coding away on, but take that out and pop in a second screen, one that matches the size and resolution of the one up top, and we’ve got a little portable laptop with not one, but TWO screens side by side, without any dodgy external arms or stands.

It’s an ideal setup for when you need to compare two spreadsheets, have a lot of reference material open while writing, or simply want to keep track of a few different feeds without constantly switching between windows. To be honest, the design of this item is rather simple; no fancy hinges or folding screens to get in the way. The modules pop in and out with a reassuring clatter, as if they were made to be swapped in and out all day without tiring.
Lenovo refers to this concept as a Modular AI PC, implying that there is some onboard intelligence that is linked to whatever module is in the bay. There’s no word on the specifics of the AI processing or what kind of software or hardware they’re using, but the name implies that whatever you put in that bay will become aware of what you’re doing and adapt accordingly, so perhaps the dual-screen mode will bring up some fancy multitasking tools, or the keyboard mode will tweak things to give you a little more battery life or make typing feel a little snappier.
