Richard Keys was dramatically forced off the air after joint US-Israel attacks in Iran sparked chaos across the region.

Former Sky Sports presenter Keys has fronted beINSports’ Premier League coverage alongside Andy Gray for over a decade.

The broadcaster’s regular Saturday show covering the afternoon’s Premier League action was pulled after explosions were reportedly heard in Qatar where the studio is based.

Keys wrote on Twitter confirming the show would not air after things got ‘a bit lively earlier’ before taking a swipe at ‘that idiot Trump’.

‘Thank you all for your messages. It’s was a bit lively earlier. I don’t have space to express my feelings about that idiot Trump. No show today,’ he wrote.

‘You’ll be in the capable hands of our colleagues in London. Thoughts & prayers for everyone in our region. Ramadan Kareem.’

Keys’ comments came after the UK government’s foreign office advised all UK nationals in the region to ‘remain indoors.’

Israel has claimed Iran has launched retaliatory strikes with explosions heard across Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Missiles also struck targets in US ally Bahrain, where US Navy’s Fifth Fleet is headquartered.

US officials said infrastructure was damaged in Bahrain, but it remains unclear if the fleet base was impacted, while no US casualties have been reported so far, according to NBC News.

Qatar’s defence ministry said in a statement that it had intercepted incoming Iranian missiles before they reached Qatari territory after ‘joint coordination’, Reuters report.

Keys and Gray have been based in Doha since 2013, two years after the two lost their jobs a Sky Sports following a sexism scandal.
