Ally McCoist believes Marcus Rashford could \u2018thrive\u2019 under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal \u2013 but wonders whether a move to the Emirates would be in the Englishman\u2019s best interests.<\/p>\n

Rashford left\u00a0Manchester United\u00a0to join Barcelona on a season-long loan deal last summer with the option to make the arrangement permanent for \u20ac30million (\u00a326m).<\/p>\n

Head coach Hansi Flick is eager for the permanent move to go through, but recent reports in Spain suggest the deal could collapse after the Spanish giants indicated they wanted to negotiate a lower fee.<\/p>\n

Should Rashford not extend his stay at Barca, the 28-year-old will not be short of suitors if he does not reintergrate back into United\u2019s first-team plans.<\/p>\n

And McCoist believes Rashford has all the capabilities to be a pivotal player for the Gunners, who are looking to strengthen their options on the left wing this summer.<\/p>\n

\u2018100 per cent I could see him playing there,\u2019 McCoist told talkSPORT Bet Casino. \u2018Marcus Rashford could thrive at Arsenal.\u2019<\/p>\n

However, the former Rangers striker insisted that competition for places at Arsenal, combined with Rashford\u2019s promising first season in Spain, would make a move to Barcelona more enticing in his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u2018They [Arsenal] would have to offload first,\u2019 McCoist added. \u2018The right-hand side of the attack, I\u2019m thinking about Madueke, Saka, you throw in Martinelli, Trossard on the left.<\/p>\n

\u2018If I was Marcus Rashford, I\u2019d probably want him to think about staying where I am at the moment.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t know what the deal is, Hansi Flick has been very complimentary about him, and he\u2019s done well when he\u2019s come in, goal returns good, assists good.<\/p>\n

\u2018If I\u2019m Marcus Rashford, I\u2019m going to stay where I am. Especially given he\u2019s going to win the league.\u2019<\/p>\n

Speaking in March about making Rashford\u2019s move permanent, Barca\u2019s sporting director Deco said: \u2018We have a clear vision regarding Rashford, and we know what needed to be done for him to stay.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018But the matter is related to Financial Fair Play, priorities, performance, and evaluation with the coach. It\u2019s something we haven\u2019t done yet because it\u2019s not the right time.\u2019<\/p>\n
