{"id":7634,"date":"2026-04-22T06:06:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T06:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news678.top\/?p=7634"},"modified":"2026-04-22T06:06:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T06:06:08","slug":"jak-jones-learned-the-hard-way-about-snooker-rage-with-broken-hand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news678.top\/?p=7634","title":{"rendered":"Jak Jones learned the hard way about snooker rage with broken hand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2259831208.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28065416\" alt=\"WST World Grand Prix 2026\" decoding=\"sync\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Former Crucible finalist Jak Jones is back in business after breaking his hand (Picture: Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jak Jones has vowed never to punch a table again after suffering a broken hand earlier this season in a moment of snooker rage.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 World Championship finalist is back at the Crucible after coming through qualifying last week, impressively beating Luca Brecel in the last round.<\/p>\n<p>He has been given a seriously difficult test in his opener on the main stage, taking on four-time world champion Mark Selby, starting on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The Welshman is in much better shape now than he was earlier this season, when he was forced to withdraw from two events due to a broken hand.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old revealed that the injury was caused by punching his practice table back in November, something he has learned never to do again.<\/p>\n<p>Things could have been much worse than they were, thankfully, but a broken hand is far from ideal for both a snooker player and a dad of a young child.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tAre you snooker loopy?\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p>You&#8217;re in the right place. I got back a lot sooner than I thought, actually a couple of weeks sooner. So I still get pains now and again, but it\u2019s all good.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>On the frustrations of life on the snooker tour, the world number 19 said: \u2018Every player feels it, whether they show it or not, they still feel it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So I think it\u2019s irrelevant if they show it, really, as long as it\u2019s not disrespectful to the opponent. But a lot of people say that I look quite calm and composed, but personally, I don\u2019t think I am at times. Obviously, the game gets on top of all players at some points.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But, yeah, I\u2019ve learned. I\u2019d never punched a table before that. So I\u2019ve learned the hard way. It was just an unbelievably busy club,\u2019 he said.<br \/>\u2018So, it was just extremely difficult to practice in there the way I wanted. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Most clubs struggle these days, but the one in my hometown of Cwmbran, Reds, just does unbelievable.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So it just wasn\u2019t quite suitable for me practising. Then I just wasn\u2019t putting the hours in. But I\u2019ve got my own room now, so I can\u2019t complain anymore.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2151549192.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28067474\" alt=\"Cazoo World Snooker Championship 2024 - Day Sixteen\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Kyren Wilson beat Jones 18-14 in the 2024 final (Picture: Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jones\u2019 passage to the Crucible final in 2024 as a qualifier was out of the blue and it remains his only ranking final so far, with just one semi-final run since then.<\/p>\n<p>He remains not entirely sure how it happened two years ago, admitting that he wasn\u2019t even playing his best stuff as he beat Zhang Anda, Si Jiahui, Judd Trump and Stuart Bingham.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t know. I think my safety was obviously really good throughout the tournament. My scoring wasn\u2019t very good,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t remember my long part being very good either. But I battled through every match, made quite a lot of good clearances, important clearances and stuff like that. So, it was more like a solid performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It wasn\u2019t a performance that I felt good from, but knowing that I\u2019ve done that, not playing my best, that gives me belief and confidence.
