The United States and Canada are co-hosting the Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Guadalajara is located in the state of Jalisco, which has more than 15,900 cases of missing persons, a toll that experts attribute to the activities of the\u00a0<span class=\"link\">Jalisco New Generation Cartel<\/span>, official data shows. The cartel has been accused of using fake job advertisements to lure new members and of\u00a0<span class=\"link\">torturing and killing recruits<\/span>\u00a0who resist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In February, Mexican military forces\u00a0<span class=\"link\">killed Nemesio &#8220;El Mencho&#8221; Oseguera<\/span>, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and one of the United States&#8217; most-wanted drug lords, leading to an\u00a0<span class=\"link\">outbreak of violence<\/span>. After the incident, FIFA reaffirmed its confidence as a host city.<\/p>\n<p>Human remains are routinely found in Jalisco, sometimes in clandestine graves. Earlier this month, the <span class=\"link\">skeletal remains of at least 11 people<\/span> were found in hidden graves in a rural lot in Ixtlahuacan, a suburb of Guadalajara.
