Now, one serious maker has transformed that fantasy into a fully functional device that is nearly identical to the ones trainers shown on the show. Mr. Volt spent months working out and creating every single part of the project on his own, minus the software.

When you pick it up, the Pokedex feels good in your hand and opens up like a flip phone, displaying the primary screen and a camera lens that is exactly where you’d expect it to be, in the same location as in the anime. At the top, four tiny lights illuminate to indicate how much battery life the device has remaining, as well as a glowing blue circle that pulses in sync with the sound emanating from the built-in speaker. When you open it, the central screen transforms into a live viewfinder, and all you have to do is aim it at any object or printed image to find out what Pokemon it is.

It quickly displays the matching Pokemon entry, complete with all of the specifics, including name, type, height, weight, and so on. The sides light up with extra stats and flavor information, and the buttons allow you to cycle across numerous pages with no lag. It also supports voice commands, so you can simply speak into the microphone to ask it questions. Do you want to know when Blastoise learns the wonderful Hydro Pump move? Simply ask it, and it will tell you, and you can even select which game version to base it on for the most accurate results. The built-in speaker also performs the classic Pokemon sound effects remarkably well. You can also switch between multiple versions of the game on the fly via a unique status screen, which also displays your battery level, WiFi connection, and other settings all at once.

All of this is powered by some clever hardware choices, as Mr Volt employed a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 to conduct all of the heavy lifting, as well as a variety of other technology to keep things going smoothly. An ESP32 controls the buttons and status display, while a Raspberry Pi Pico manages the other screens and keeps the wiring neat and tidy. They’ve also created a special circuit board to connect all 22 unique tactile switches (with a full directional pad for very precise navigation) and managed to cram in a tiny USB C socket to charge everything.

The build started with some comprehensive blueprints created using modeling software. Mr. Volt disassembled the body into bits that could be manufactured on a high-resolution resin printer, resulting in the fine details and fairly precise colour matching they desired. The majority of the components came out of the machine in black resin, which was then cleaned up and hardened under a UV light to ensure that everything was securely in place. They threw on an aluminum plate that had been made on a CNC router at the back, giving it a lot of strength and keeping the electronics from getting burned.

They carved a few pockets in the metal to keep the main board and camera module exactly where they needed to be. When it came to the software, BigRigCreates grabbed the lead because they were also a big Pokemon enthusiast, had a good understanding of the data to draw on, and very good with code. Working together, they devised a system that could snap a photo of a Pokemon or listen to a spoken question and spit back the complete entry instantly, without delay. It has the information for every single Pokemon that’s been published so far, and it can even update with new ones if you connect it to your wireless network.

A Maker Finally Built The Pokedex Fans Always Wanted From The Pokemon Anime

#Maker #Finally #Built #Pokedex #Fans #Wanted #Pokemon #Anime

Pokemon fans grew up watching trainers pull out sleek red Pokedex devices to learn everything…

[8
6024,380,1085,719,1681,6023,577,978
post-6363","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tech","tag-anime","tag-built","tag-fans","tag-finally","tag-maker","tag-pokedex","tag-pokemon","tag-wanted
https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime.jpg",1280,853,false
https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime-300x200.jpg",300,200,true
https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime-768x512.jpg",640,427,true
https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime-1024x682.jpg",640,426,true],"1536x1536":["https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime.jpg",1280,853,false],"2048x2048":["https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime.jpg",1280,853,false
https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime-1024x682.jpg",1024,682,true
https://news678.top/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/real-life-pokedex-pokemon-anime-540x340.jpg",540,340,true
["GET
