Liam Rosenior has heaped praise on Moises Caicedo ahead of Chelsea\u2019s clash with Man City (Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Liam Rosenior has hailed Moises Caicedo as \u2018one of the best defensive midfielders in the world\u2019 ahead of Chelsea\u2019s Premier League match against Manchester City on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Caicedo is set to make his 100th Premier League appearance for Chelsea this weekend as City travel to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

The Ecuador international, who joined Chelsea in a \u00a3115 million deal from Brighton in 2023, has established himself as one of the leading midfielders in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u2018For me, he\u2019s one of the best defensive midfield players, if not the best defensive midfield player in world football,\u2019 Rosenior said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Because of his intelligence, his physicality, his technical quality, how he understands the game. He\u2019s going to be huge for us on Sunday.\u2019<\/p>\n

Rosenior is also confident that Chelsea can beat City despite registering just one win in their last six Premier League matches.<\/p>\n

\u2018Of course we can, we\u2019re a very good team,\u2019 Rosenior said.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019ve gone through a difficult run, even though in that run we were punished for mistakes, there were good moments.<\/p>\n

\u2018When I actually analysed the games that we\u2019ve had, we\u2019ve caused every team we\u2019ve played against problems but haven\u2019t had the results for that.<\/p>\n

\u2018We need to make sure that we keep the back door shut. We need to not switch off. We need to not make mistakes because Manchester City will punish you. But I still want us to go out and play our game.\u2019<\/p>\n

Rosenior also confirmed that Enzo Fernandez will still not be available for the game against City this weekend despite issuing an apology to the club for his comments surrounding a potential move to Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019ve had a really good conversation myself, I had three or four with Enzo. He\u2019s apologised to me, he\u2019s apologised to the club and we\u2019ll deal with that after a massive game on Sunday,\u2019 Rosenior said.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s a serious meeting about something very serious. Enzo, I said from every single step along this way\u2026 I\u2019m not questioning Enzo\u2019s character, I\u2019m not questioning who he is as a person. I believe people make mistakes and you can\u2019t overstep the punishment for the mistake. I think we\u2019ve made a sanction, we made a decision, I made a decision, and what I want for Enzo is for him to come on here and have an outstanding career.<\/p>\n

\u2018He won\u2019t play on Sunday but hopefully after that he\u2019ll be a massive part of the group moving forward.<\/p>\n

\u2018There\u2019s still a few hurdles that need to be overcome that I won\u2019t go into but at the same time I want every player really, really focused now on a huge run.\u2019<\/p>\n
