{"id":6036,"date":"2026-04-08T11:54:41","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:54:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news678.top\/?p=6036"},"modified":"2026-04-08T11:54:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:54:41","slug":"grand-national-2026-runners-and-riders-full-list-of-confirmed-horses-and-jockeys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news678.top\/?p=6036","title":{"rendered":"Grand National 2026 runners and riders: Full list of confirmed horses and jockeys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2147772120.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-27897096\" alt=\"RACING-ENG-NATIONAL\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>I Am Maximus has been installed as the favourite (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The 34 horses taking part in this year&#8217;s Grand National have now been officially confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The line-up is headed by the favourite I Am Maximus, who won the iconic steeplechase for trainer Willie Mullins in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The 10 year-old then finished as runner-up to stablemate Nick Rockett in last year&#8217;s race &#8211; the duo leading home a Mullins 1-2-3 with Grangeclare West rounding out the top spots.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Townend will once again ride I Am Maximus, while Patrick Mullins &#8211; who has switched from Nick Rockett to Grangeclare West &#8211; is aiming to become just the tenth jockey to win the National in successive years.<\/p>\n<p>The vacancy left with Nick Rockett has been filled by British jockey Tom Bellamy, who won the Mares&#8217; Novices&#8217; Hurdle at Cheltenham last month.<\/p>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s top three make up a third of the nine horses Mullins has entered into the 2026 race, which also includes the likes of Spanish Harlem and Lecky Watson.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"418\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2238335790.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-27897130\" alt=\"Aintree Grand National meeting day three\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Nick Rockett, ridden by Patrick Mullins, claimed the win in 2025 (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A fourth victory at the Grand National for the legendary Irishman will see him join Ginger McCain and Fred Rimell as the most successful trainers in the history of the race.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, there was something of a surprise with the declaration of Spillane\u2019s Tower, who is also set to run in the Bowl race on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Should the JP McManus-owned horse compete in the first day of Aintree, then his spot in the National will be taken by first reserve Pied Piper.<\/p>\n<p>The reserve deadline is 1pm on Friday, with Imperial Saint, Amirite, Ain&#8217;t That A Shame, Deep Cave and Buddy One next in line should any of the runners listed pull out.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tGrand National confirmed runners and riders\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p><strong>1.
