Jamie Carragher has suggested Arsenal will miss out on the Premier League title if they continue to play like they did in their Champions League quarter-final win over Sporting.<\/p>\n

The Gunners took a 1-0 lead back to the Emirates Stadium for next week\u2019s second leg thanks to Kai Havertz\u2019s injury-time winner.<\/p>\n

Arsenal had lost back-to-back games before their trip to Lisbon, suffering a Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City before a shock FA Cup loss to Southampton.<\/p>\n

It looked as though Mikel Arteta\u2019s side would have to settle for a draw against Sporting but substitute Havertz came off the bench to score a late winner.<\/p>\n

Carragher said beating Sporting was a \u2018big result\u2019 for Arsenal given their recent wobble but was far from blown away by the Premier League leader\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n

The Liverpool legend and ex-England defender even suggested Arsenal would once again fall short in the Premier League title race if they replicated that performance for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Arsenal boast a nine-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table ahead of Saturday\u2019s home match against Bournemouth.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was a big\u00a0result for Arsenal but it\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0a great performance,\u2019 Carragher said on CBS Sports.<\/p>\n

\u2018They won and that was the\u00a0big thing\u00a0after losing two\u00a0games\u00a0but it\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0a great performance. It\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0like they played\u00a0fantastic\u00a0but they won the game.<\/p>\n

\u2018But do you think if they play like that for the rest of the\u00a0season\u00a0they will win the title?\u00a0We\u2019ll\u00a0see.\u2019<\/p>\n

Carragher, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, added: \u2018It will be tough for Sporting to get back into the tie now.<\/p>\n

\u2018Even though Arsenal\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0play well it never really felt that they were in danger\u00a0or\u00a0being threatened. I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0feel like Sporting could hurt them too much.<\/p>\n

\u2018It almost felt like a group game instead of a quarter-final, it was a completely different level\u00a0of pace and\u00a0probably quality\u00a0compared to the Real Madrid-Bayern Munich game.<\/p>\n

\u2018Arsenal had them at arm\u2019s length and were never going to take many risks away from home.\u2019<\/p>\n

Arsenal matchwinner Havertz, meanwhile, was delighted to contributed to a \u2018much-needed\u2019 win following two disappointing defeats in the domestic cup competitions.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think we needed that as we were all frustrated with how the last couple of weeks went,\u2019 Havertz said.<\/p>\n

\u2018But it\u2019s time to move forward, it\u2019s time to be positive, and it\u2019s time to all stick together as a group \u2013 as players, staff, fans, we\u2019re all in this together and we still can make something happen this year.<\/p>\n

\u2018It can be something very special, that\u2019s what we\u2019re going to go for, and now it\u2019s time to win games.\u2019<\/p>\n

Arsenal\u2019s Premier League title rivals Manchester City dropped vital points against Nottingham Forest and West Ham before the international break.<\/p>\n

But Pep Guardiola\u2019s side looked in ominous form as they beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final before thrashing Liverpool 4-0 in the FA Cup.<\/p>\n
