Rio Ferdinand is pleased to see Marcus Rashford back in form again and claims Barcelona would be \u2018robbing\u2019 Manchester United if they go on and sign the forward for \u00a326million.<\/p>\n

Rashford joined Barca on a season-long loan last summer having effectively been frozen out of United\u2019s first-team following a public falling out with Ruben Amorim.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old had once been United\u2019s shining light and a poster boy for the academy, but his return in front of goal dropped off a cliff at the start of the 2023\/24 campaign \u2013 and he made it clear he wanted to leave his boyhood team after returning from a separate loan spell with Aston Villa. <\/p>\n

Though not a guaranteed starter at the Camp Nou, Rashford appears to be enjoying his football again in Spain, with the England international racking up 11 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.<\/p>\n

His latest goal \u2013 a crucial equaliser in a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid at the weekend \u2013 was arguably his standout moment yet for the runaway La Liga leaders and Hansi Flick was full of praise after the final whistle. <\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m very happy with Marcus,\u2019 the Barca head coach told reporters. <\/p>\n

\u2018He has shown his quality and he scored an important goal.\u2019<\/p>\n

However, Flick was unable to provide any clarity regarding Barca\u2019s plans for Rashford beyond the season, when the player\u2019s current loan contract expires.<\/p>\n

\u2018I can\u2019t say anything about his future, the German added.<\/p>\n

\u2018We have to focus on the matches until the end of the season.\u2019<\/p>\n

Barca have reportedly seen enough from Rashford and are ready to ask United for an extension on the attacker\u2019s loan.<\/p>\n

The Catalan giants also have the option to sign Rashford outright for a fee of \u00a326m in the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

According to Manchester Evening News, recent reports in Spain suggesting this option had expired were \u2018wide of the mark\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018If Barcelona get him for the reported \u00a326m that we\u2019re talking about and they get that version of Marcus Rashford, that is an absolute robbery, it\u2019s a steal,\u2019 ex-United defender Ferdinand said on his Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

\u2018I just say good luck to him, I want him to do well, because I\u2019ve seen him grow as a young player at United and good luck to him in that sense.\u2019<\/p>\n

Though Ferdinand would have an in-form Rashford back at United in a heartbeat, he\u2019s confident the \u2018ship has sailed\u2019 on the forward\u2019s Old Trafford career.<\/p>\n

Asked if he would like to see a fit and firing Rashford in United colours again, Ferdinand replied: \u2018Absolutely! If Marcus Rashford is playing like that\u2026 that goal there is Marcus Rashford. That isn\u2019t a surprise.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re not sitting here going, \u201cOh my God, did you see what Marcus Rashford did the other day? Never knew he could do that!\u201d\u2026 no no, that\u2019s what we expect, that\u2019s what Marcus Rashford has made us feel is the norm with him because he\u2019s that good. <\/p>\n

\u2018Potentially he\u2019s that good, it\u2019s just that we haven\u2019t seen it for a while at Manchester United and there\u2019s obviously reasons behind that.<\/p>\n

\u2018But let\u2019s forget that now, that page is turned. He\u2019s now at Barcelona, ten goals, ten assists this season, what a loan signing he has been for Barcelona if you look at it like that. <\/p>\n

\u2018Would you have that Marcus Rashford back [at Manchester United]? 100 per cent, but I think that ship has sailed.\u2019<\/p>\n

Based on what he has seen in recent weeks, Ferdinand believes Rashford will now have his heart set on staying put in Barcelona for at least another season.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think Marcus Rashford is looking forward, I think deep down he\u2019ll want to go to Barcelona and I just hope that actually materialises for him,\u2019 the six-time Premier League winner continued.<\/p>\n

\u2018Is he playing consistently like the Rashford that we knew before? I\u2019d argue probably not. But we\u2019re seeing more glimpses of it that would be making me go, \u201cI\u2019d bet on that\u201d, and if I was Barcelona then I\u2019d take him.\u2019<\/p>\n

Rashford is yet to provide any assurances either way when it comes to his future, with two years remaining on his current contract at United.<\/p>\n

But the United academy product has made no secret of the fact he is enjoying his experience in Catalonia, which he feels has proven a \u2018fantastic environment\u2019 for his \u2018football journey\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Of course\u00a0this is what I want, but it\u2019s not the reason why I\u2019m pushing and working hard,\u2019 Rashford said in a recent interview with Spanish publication Sport.<\/p>\n

\u2018The reason why is because I want to win. Barcelona is a fantastic club. A club that is known for winning, and it\u2019s this type of pressure \u2013 I want to say pressure but it\u2019s not a bad type of pressure.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s a pressure that you look forward to and a pressure that I want to have whilst I\u2019m playing football. If I\u2019m at a club that doesn\u2019t demand these things then it\u2019s more difficult for me to be motivated. It\u2019s a fantastic environment\u00a0for me to continue my football journey.\u2019<\/p>\n

Asked whether he felt settled in the city, Rashford said: \u2018From the minute that I arrived I felt welcome. For me, the reason why I\u2019m here is to help the team. I\u2019m here to help them win trophies.<\/p>\n

\u2018Last year they had a fantastic season but \u2013 like in life and in football \u2013 things move on quickly so we have to repeat the season that we had last season.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m fully focused on this and the staff, the players know that I\u2019m focused on this so it\u2019s really good.\u2019<\/p>\n
