Tyson Fury must rid his fight camp of \u2018useless s**thouses\u2019 to stand his best chance of returning to the summit of boxing, according to Johnny Nelson.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Gypsy King\u2019 will return to the ring on 11 April to take on Russian giant Arslanbek Makhmudov in what will be his first fight in 16 months.<\/p>\n

The former WBC heavyweight champion will no longer have his father John Fury by his side with the latter revealing their relationship is \u2018completely destroyed\u2019 in an astonishing interview last week.<\/p>\n

Fury Snr claimed his son\u2019s best days are now firmly behind him after two draining battles with Oleksandr Usyk in 2024 while also brutally dismissing the role of his son\u2019s trainer Sugarhill Steward, calling the American a \u2018gym sweeper.\u2019<\/p>\n

Fury Snr, who was in his son\u2019s corner for the first fight, was hugely critical of Steward\u2019s role in that defeat and alluded to deeper problems in the camp over unnamed individuals who do not have the fighter\u2019s best interests at heart.<\/p>\n

They are concerns shared by former world champion Nelson, who suggests some members of Fury\u2019s sizeable entourage are \u2018as useful as a chocolate fireguard.\u2019<\/p>\n

The former cruiserweight king believes now is the time to trim the fat and lose any individuals only in it for a payday and to \u2018fatten their CV\u2019, warning Fury cannot afford to make any more mistakes preparing for fights.<\/p>\n

\u2018What John Fury said nothing new,\u2019 Nelson told Metro<\/strong>. \u2018There was a time when I said there is stuff going in the gym and that Tyson\u2019s legs are gone. Regardless of what you think of him, John has pride in regards to how he reads a fighter.<\/p>\n

\u2018John was one of those who was speaking straight about the state of the camp, I had also heard this myself too about members of the camp who are useless. Like a chocolate fireguard.<\/p>\n

\u2018These guys will cost him money. At the end of the day, Tyson will have more experience than anyone else in the camp. They are there to get their CV fattened up so when they go onto work with someone else they can say \u201cyeah, I worked with Tyson Fury\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u2018They will learn from the mistakes Tyson makes. Tyson can\u2019t have himself in a position now where people can be making mistakes with his career. He wants to put himself in a position where the people he is working with know what they are doing and they stand by their responsibilities. So I understand where John\u2019s coming from.\u2019<\/p>\n

Fury has relocated his camp to Thailand for this fight and in February insisted he would be doing it all on his own \u2018with no trainer, no mind coach, no strength coach and no nutritionist\u2019. But last week, the 37-year-old told Metro<\/strong> that head trainer Steward remains part of the team \u2018and always will be\u2019.<\/p>\n

While it would appear the American is still part of the picture, Nelson is not convinced what more Steward can do to improve a fighter entering the final stanza of his career.<\/p>\n

Asked if Steward will stay on with Fury for the Makhmudov fight and beyond, Nelson said: \u2018It all depends on how long Tyson stays in the game.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s at a stage now where there isn\u2019t someone who is going to teach him something new. He needs someone to motivate him and bring the best out of him. He knows the sport.\u2019<\/p>\n
