Liam Rosenior has been told he made himself look \u2018stupid\u2019 by saying he would contact PGMOL after referee Paul Tierney was in the centre of Chelsea\u2019s latest \u2018ridiculous\u2019 pre-match huddle.<\/p>\n

Tierney was bizarrely caught up in Chelsea\u2019s pre-match huddle before Saturday\u2019s Premier League defeat to Newcastle United and was left standing in the middle or the circle.<\/p>\n

Chelsea\u2019s inconsistent form continued afterwards as they were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle, with England star Anthony Gordon scoring the only goal.<\/p>\n

Rosenior criticised Tierney after the game and confirmed he would be contacting the PGMOL to \u2018try to get an understanding of what happened\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m respectful to the game,\u2019 the Stamford Bridge boss said. \u2018My players made a decision that they wanted to be around the ball, to respect the ball and show unity and leadership.<\/p>\n

\u2018That is not my decision. That is a decision between the leadership group and the team. There is nothing that they\u2019re doing with that huddle that is disrespectful to the opposition.<\/p>\n

\u2018If Paul had focused more on his job, which was to make the right decision, we\u2019d have a penalty today. I don\u2019t think anyone can say that Woltemade doesn\u2019t kick Cole Palmer down in the box.<\/p>\n

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley believes his former club should stop doing the pre-match huddle and says Rosenior made himself look \u2018stupid\u2019 after the Newcastle defeat.<\/p>\n

He told ESPN: \u2018I\u2019m\u00a0intrigued by this, when Liam Rosenior contacts Howard Webb, what does he expect Webb to do?<\/p>\n

\u2018You\u2019re\u00a0not going to demote a referee because he was standing in a stupid huddle. How stupid does it make you sound as a coach of a team\u00a0in the Champions League and spends billions of pounds that\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0biggest concern after the game is the referee getting in the way of your ridiculous huddle.<\/p>\n

\u2018I mean come on\u2026 come on! I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know what the referee is doing there but Rosenior wants to talk to the PGMOL about this?<\/p>\n

\u2018He should be worried\u00a0more about his team\u2019s performance, he should be worried about conceding five goals in Paris, he should be worried about their Champions League chances.<\/p>\n

\u2018Huddling around the ball for unity, what is this nonsense? He thinks he knows more than everyone else but\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0overthinking everything.<\/p>\n

\u2018Come on,\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0got more to worry about than reporting the referee.\u2019<\/p>\n

Burley also claimed the Chelsea players would be \u2018giggling behind Rosenior\u2019s back\u2019 at some of his antics as Stamford Bridge boss.<\/p>\n

\u2018Unless this Chelsea dressing room are soft and weak and will accept anything, they\u00a0have to\u00a0be giggling like schoolkids behind this manager\u2019s back,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n

\u2018We know what goes on, we\u2019ve all been in dressing rooms. These players will be having a field day with the manager.\u2019<\/p>\n

Chelsea\u2019s defeat to Newcastle came just a few days after they suffered a painful 5-2 loss to PSG in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Rosenior\u2019s side were level with the Champions League holders until PSG scored three late goals to put one foot in the quarter-finals ahead of the return leg at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n
