Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to make a decision on his future until the summer, amid speculation Tottenham want to appoint him as Igor Tudor\u2019s successor.<\/p>\n

Spurs are already understood to be making contingency plans ahead of Sunday\u2019s daunting trip to Anfield where they are widely expected to succumb to a seventh successive defeat. <\/p>\n

Tudor\u2019s spell as interim boss has been nothing short of a disaster with Tuesday\u2019s calamitous defeat against Atletico Madrid, during which goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky was hauled off after 17 minutes, representing the latest sorry chapter in a seemingly doomed experiement.<\/p>\n

De Zerbi, who parted company with Marseille last month, has emerged as one of the names the ailing north London club are considering turning to but the Italian is, according to talkSport, said to have little interest in taking over until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Tudor, meanwhile has hinted Tottenham will stick with a back-three for Sunday\u2019s game against Liverpool, with \u2018beautiful guy\u2019 Archie Gray in line to play centre-back.<\/p>\n

A feature of Tudor\u2019s disastrous four-match tenure has been his tendency to put square pegs in round holes, with midfielder Joao Palhinha and right-back Pedro Porro used out of position in the Croatian\u2019s favoured 3-4-2-1 formation.<\/p>\n

Palhinha played centre-back in Tudor\u2019s debut 4-1 loss to Arsenal and Porro was used there for last week\u2019s worrying home defeat to Crystal Palace. Even though Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Palhinha are absent at Anfield, the 47-year-old looks likely to keep faith with a three-man defence.<\/p>\n

Asked about Gray during a tense press conference on Friday, when Tudor urged Spurs not to be \u2018victims\u2019 and to choose whether to \u2018cry or fight\u2019 their way out of a club-record six-match losing streak, the caretaker boss hinted he would play in another new position.<\/p>\n

Gray has played right-wing-back, left-back and central midfield during Tudor\u2019s terrible reign, but could get the nod at centre-back along with Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin for a daunting fixture at Liverpool.<\/p>\n

\u2018That\u2019s the problem. He needs to every game change the position,\u2019 Tudor said about Gray.<\/p>\n

\u2018Beautiful guy, beautiful player. I didn\u2019t know him before so much, so from inside, he has my big respect.\u2019<\/p>\n

Quizzed on if he remained the right man for Tottenham, Tudor pushed back: \u2018It\u2019s not a topic that I\u2019m thinking about.\u2019<\/p>\n

The experienced coach has earned relative success in previous short-term roles, with his harsh appraisal able to act as a catalyst for a turnaround in fortunes, but his methods at Spurs have instead appeared to decrease morale.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s not criticism, I give advice. It\u2019s not about criticising players. We are together. It\u2019s not that I say to you, \u2018you are not good, you need to do this,\u2019 it\u2019s not about that,\u2019 Tudor added.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s about you making them understand that this is advice for you to become a better player and when you become a better player, we become a better team.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s about accepting this, which is something not easy because it\u2019s easy to stay in your comfort zone. When you stay in your comfort zone, you don\u2019t change, so it\u2019s a lot of time about that.\u2019<\/p>\n
