\t<\/div>Michael Owen believes Liverpool remain the best team in the Premier League ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City.<\/p>\n
Arne Slot guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season in charge but the reigning champions have struggled for consistency this term and are currently sixth in the table, 19 points behind leaders Arsenal.<\/p>\n
Owen, however, is adamant that Liverpool are the standout team in the Premier League and could return to their best next season.<\/p>\n
\u2018Personally, I think they\u2019re the best team in the Premier League,\u2019 Owen said on BBC\u2019s Wayne Rooney Show.<\/p>\n
\u2018People will laugh like, \u2018where are they, sixth in the league?\u2019 They trounced the league last season, and they\u2019re not the sixth [best], they\u2019re just not playing well.<\/p>\n
\u2018If you get the best performance out of every team in the Premier League and say, \u2018right, go on, your best against your best\u2019, I think Liverpool are the best team. So I think next season will be the one for Liverpool, and obviously when you\u2019re champions you get criticised if you don\u2019t win games and that\u2019s what\u2019s happened with some of the players and the manager.\u2019<\/p>\n Owen replied: \u2018I think if you ask a Liverpool fan, would you settle for finishing fifth? Champions League football is absolutely vital. Then after the season it\u2019s been, and then to try to win another trophy, then I think they\u2019d they\u2019d take that. The league has long gone, so it\u2019s just about making sure it\u2019s top five.<\/p>\n \u2018I hear Wazza with the Liverpool situation, it\u2019s been massively frustrating but I still find it hard to believe you can go from being so dominant one season and adding some really top players, Isak, Ekitike, Wirtz, just those three are unbelievable players, it\u2019s hard to believe they\u2019re worse, of course, they\u2019re playing worse this season but I just think it\u2019s a matter of time, maybe next season, before you see them at their very top again.<\/p>\n \u2018Arsenal I think will go on to win the league but you can\u2019t tell me they\u2019re as good as, or even close to Liverpool last season.
