Mason Mount is in contention to return to the Manchester United squad this weekend against Aston Villa.<\/p>\n

Since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2023, Mount\u2019s time in Manchester has been largely beset by injuries, starting just 29 matches with a return of seven goals.<\/p>\n

The midfielder did enjoy a relatively injury-free first-half of the season under Ruben Amorim but picked up another knock shortly after Michael Carrick\u2019s appointment in January. <\/p>\n

Mount has managed just one minute of first-team football under the interim United boss, ruled out of the last six games,<\/p>\n

He has now returned to training and is contention to make the squad on Sunday for the visit of Unai Emery\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

\u2018Mason\u2019s back with the group, which is fantastic,\u2019 Carrick said.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s an important player for us, Mason, and to have him back and involved is a good step for us, definitely.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s not, you know, 100 per cent in terms of [being] back because he\u2019s only trained a very small amount of time, but he\u2019s back and that\u2019s good for us.<\/p>\n

\u2018So, we\u2019ll see if he\u2019s involved or not on Sunday, but yeah, it\u2019s a big step for him, but we\u2019re happy with that. Yeah, that\u2019s it in terms of players coming back for now.\u2019<\/p>\n

Noussair Mazraoui trained this week after coming off with a knock in the defeat to Manchester United last time out.<\/p>\n

United remain without Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu.<\/p>\n

Martinez has sat out of United\u2019s last three games with a calf problem. De Ligt meanwhile has not featured since the end of November with a back problem with little indication on when he will be available again although the Dutchman was pictured back in training this week.<\/p>\n

Dorgu meanwhile is still recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up in the 3-2 victory over Arsenal in January, hoping to return next month.<\/p>\n
