PSG remain interested in signing Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea and are \u2018in contact\u2019 with his representatives about a deal, according to reports in France.<\/p>\n

Fernandez has been a mainstay in the Chelsea team since his \u00a3107m move from Benfica in 2023, making 157 appearances for the Blues.<\/p>\n

The Argentina midfielder helped Chelsea qualify for the Champions League last season and win both the Conference League and Club World Cup.<\/p>\n

Fernandez will hope to secure more silverware this season with Chelsea preparing to face PSG in the knockout stages of the Champions League and Port Vale in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.<\/p>\n

Chelsea travel to Paris on Wednesday night for the first leg of their last-16 tie but the build-up has been partly overshadowed by speculation PSG could launch a new move for Fernandez.<\/p>\n

The French champions are long-term admirers of Fernandez, 25, and remain interested in securing his services ahead of the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

PSG believe Fernandez has the ability and character to thrive for the Champions League holders, according to L\u2019Equipe, and are in contact with both the player and his representatives to discuss a deal.<\/p>\n

Fernandez is contracted to Chelsea until 2032 but it is claimed failure to qualify for next season\u2019s Champions League could convince the midfielder to quit.<\/p>\n

PSG\u2019s renewed interest in Fernandez comes after he was reportedly left \u2018unhappy\u2019 with Chelsea\u2019s decision to sack Enzo Maresca, who he shared a healthy relationship with.<\/p>\n

While Fernandez was disappointed to see the Italian leave, the managerial change has not harmed his form, with the Argentine scoring five goals since Maresca\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n

Given his status as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League with a long contract to fulfil, Fernandez would command a huge transfer fee and a hefty salary.<\/p>\n

There is no indication that Chelsea would be prepared to discuss a deal for one of their star players, however, and new manager Liam Rosenior is enjoying working with Fernandez.<\/p>\n

\u2018Enzo\u2019s got a rare athleticism, it\u2019s a gift where he can recover really quickly,\u2019 Rosenior said last month. \u2018The distances he covers, in terms of the data, is absolutely top.<\/p>\n

\u2018So is the quality and the leadership he gives the team. I\u2019m really enjoying working with him.\u2019<\/p>\n

Responding to speculation linking Fernandez with a move to PSG, Rosenior added: \u2018It means nothing to me.<\/p>\n

\u2018When you\u2019re a world-class player, an outstanding player, there\u2019s always going to be speculation that you can\u2019t control.<\/p>\n

\u2018What I\u2019ve said about Enzo on record is the case. He\u2019s been outstanding in the time I\u2019ve worked with him.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s even surprised me in a good way in terms of what he did on Saturday to be ill, I know it was his birthday, but to be ill and cover the ground that he did, the way that he\u2019s trained and the way that he\u2019s performed. <\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m speaking on the realities of the situation, which is he\u2019s a Chelsea player. He\u2019s very, very important to me.<\/p>\n

\u2018And I think we\u2019re going to have a really, really good, hopefully winning relationship moving forward in the short term and the long term.\u2019<\/p>\n

Chelsea face PSG sitting fifth in the Premier League, while the Champions League holders are top of Ligue 1.<\/p>\n

The last-16 tie represents a repeat of last summer\u2019s Club World Cup final, which Chelsea won 3-0 thanks to Joao Pedro\u2019s brace and a goal from Cole Palmer.<\/p>\n

That final in America was especially memorable due to the antics that followed the full-time whistle, with PSG boss Luis Enrique appearing to strike Chelsea forward Joao Pedro.<\/p>\n
