Oxford United have announced 15-year-old youth player Amelia Aplin has died after collapsing during an academy match.<\/p>\n

Amelia collapsed during Oxford Girls\u2019 Academy game against Fulham at the club\u2019s training facility in Horspath on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u2018It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of 15-year-old Academy player, Amelia Aplin,\u2019 a statement from the club read.<\/p>\n

\u2018The thoughts and sincere condolences from everyone at Oxford United are with Amelia\u2019s family, friends, teammates and coaches.<\/p>\n

\u2018We would like to place on record our appreciation for the efforts of the medical staff at both Oxford United and Fulham Football Club, along with the emergency services.\u2019<\/p>\n

Oxford United Women were due to play Real Bedford on Sunday but the game was postponed after Amelia\u2019s tragic death.<\/p>\n

\u2018The club will offer support to Amelia\u2019s family, players, coaches and staff impacted by this tragic event,\u2019 the club added.<\/p>\n

The FA Women\u2019s National League said they were \u2018deeply saddened\u2019 by Amelia\u2019s passing and said they would \u2018support the club\u2019 through this \u2018incredibly sad time\u2019.<\/p>\n

Oxford fan, Declan Edwards, also paid tribute to \u2018bright talent\u2019 Amelia on social media, saying he was \u2018absolutely heartbroken\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018A bright 15-year-old talent gone far too soon,\u2019 he said. \u2018My deepest condolences to her family, friends, teammates and everyone at Oxford United. Rest in peace, Amelia.\u2019<\/p>\n

Oxfordshire Councillor Liam Walker added: \u2018This is utterly devastating news.<\/p>\n
