Alan Shearer has told Fabian Hurzeler to \u2018concentrate on his own team\u2019 (Premier League)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Alan Shearer has hit back at Fabian Hurzeler\u2019s criticism of Arsenal\u2019s \u2018time wasting\u2019 after their 1-0 win against Brighton this week.<\/p>\n

Bukayo Saka\u2019s goal sealed Arsenal\u2019s victory over Brighton which has put them seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after Manchester City were held at home to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

But after the game, Hurzeler was unhappy with Arsenal\u2019s game management and singled out David Raya for criticism after the goalkeeper went to ground on multiple occasions and required medical treatment.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think there was only one team who tried to play football today,\u2019 Hurzeler said.<\/p>\n

\u2018If I asked everyone in this room did they enjoy this football game, I\u2019m sure maybe one raises his arm because he\u2019s a big Arsenal fan, besides that, no chance.<\/p>\n

\u2018In the end we have to make the limits or the Premier League has to make the limits. Where will this go in the future? One game we played 60 minutes net time [ball in play], then when you play against Arsenal it\u2019s only 50 minutes, that\u2019s ten minutes difference. This is what the supporters are paying for, you get my point.<\/p>\n

\u2018I won\u2019t complain about the referee because it\u2019s really difficult for him, do you want to send off the goalkeeper for two yellow cards for wasting time? This will never happen so what should he do? That\u2019s the thing, that\u2019s why you need rules, limits.\u2019<\/p>\n

When asked if Hurzeler may have said his comments in the heat of the moment, Shearer said on The Rest is Football podcast: \u2018Yeah, I get that, I understand that and it\u2019s perhaps the worst time to talk to a manager after a game, particularly when they\u2019ve lost, because there are so many things racing through your head and you might say things you might not mean or might regret,<\/p>\n

\u2018But the Arsenal fans won\u2019t give a damn what he thinks, won\u2019t give a damn how Arsenal perform, as long as they go out and win that game.<\/p>\n

\u2018Arsenal fans would have watched that game and enjoyed it and enjoyed the result. He [Hurzeler] wouldn\u2019t because his team are not doing as well as they should do. They\u2019ve won three in 16\u2026 he\u2019d be better off concentrating on his own team rather than any other team.\u2019<\/p>\n

Shearer added: \u2018None of that is Arsenal\u2019s fault. Come the end of the season, if they win the league they have found a way to be the best team in the league.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Arsenal fans will not give a jot what anyone says if they go out and win the title.\u2019<\/p>\n

Gary Lineker echoed Shearer\u2019s sentiments and insists Arsenal should not be concerned with the claims from rival managers and supporters.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019ve got one or two Arsenal friends, a friend of mine Briac, a lifelong Arsenal supporter, text me asking, \u2018why is everyone having a go, why do they hate us so much?\u2019, and I say to him you\u2019ve got to take it as a compliment,\u2019 Lineker said.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s because you\u2019re a threat, that\u2019s why they do it. I think some of them do take it a bit personally but if they do go on to win the league they\u2019ll get all the plaudits, except for those who are jealous. Enjoy that I would say.\u2019<\/p>\n
