The Instax Square 2\u2019s body measures 139 by 119.5 by 71 millimeters and weighs 450 grams empty, shaped from smooth plastic that curves around the edges rather than meeting them at sharp angles. Vertical texture lines run along the grip and continue around the large front lens barrel, giving the camera a consistent feel in the hand whether you hold it for a quick portrait or a wider scene. The lens itself is a rather simple two-element design at 65.75 millimeters f\/12.6, producing a field of view that is not significantly different from that of a 32mm lens on a full frame camera when the 62 by 62mm image area of Instax Square film is taken into account. The shutter ranges from a very slow 1\/2 second to 1\/400th of a second, and the xenon flash simply adjusts its power each time you take a shot. The flash recycles in approximately 7.5 seconds and has a coverage range of 0.3 to 2.2 meters. Soft Haze basically reduces saturation and contrast, resulting in prints with brilliant highlights and considerably softer shadows, as opposed to regular film, which is much more vibrant. The camera costs $119.95 in the United States and $139.99 in Canada, and it is expected to be available in stores by late October 2026.
