Mikel Arteta has been told he \u2018cannot trust\u2019 \u00a364m striker Viktor Gyokeres after Arsenal\u2019s crucial Premier League win over Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Manchester City applied more pressure to the Gunners by beating Leeds United on Saturday but Arsenal restored their five-point lead in the title race with a 2-1 win over London rivals Chelsea the next day.<\/p>\n

Arteta\u2019s side looked second-best in the second half after Chelsea equalised through a Piero Hincapie own goal and cancelled out William Saliba\u2019s early opener.<\/p>\n

But Arsenal\u2019s prowess from set-plays once again came to the fore and Jurrien Timber scored a 65th-minute winner before Pedro Neto was sent off for Chelsea.<\/p>\n

With Man City boasting a game in hand and Arsenal set to travel to the Etihad Stadium in a blockbuster clash next month, beating Chelsea was crucial to the Gunners\u2019 hopes of winning the Premier League for the first time since 2004.<\/p>\n

But Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believes Arteta will still have been \u2018worried\u2019 by aspects of Arsenal\u2019s performance and particularly the lack of threat \u2013 set-pieces aside \u2013 in the final third.<\/p>\n

Nicol says Arteta still \u2018cannot trust\u2019 Gyokeres despite his recent upturn in form and also criticised several other Arsenal attacking players, including Bukayo Saka.<\/p>\n

\u2018In terms of the game, I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0think Chelsea turned up until the 45th\u00a0minute,\u2019 Nicol said on ESPN. \u2018They\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0contribute anything going forward in the first half other than the own goal.<\/p>\n

\u2018The second half was completely different. Mikel Arteta would have expected Arsenal to start the second half like they started the\u00a0match\u00a0but they\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0do it.<\/p>\n

\u2018That would be the worrying thing for me, that Arsenal\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0have an answer when it got a little bit pressurised. Even when Chelsea had ten men, Arsenal\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0control the ball.<\/p>\n

\u2018The midfield was poor, Declan Rice just ran out of steam, it was\u00a0probably Martin\u00a0Zubimendi\u2019s\u00a0worst game in an Arsenal jersey.<\/p>\n

\u2018That would be the biggest concern for Mikel Arteta. They\u00a0have to\u00a0go to Man\u00a0City\u00a0but the other games are against teams outside the\u00a0top-six\u00a0which means\u00a0they\u2019ll\u00a0probably be\u00a0sitting in a tight defensive unit.<\/p>\n

\u2018[Gabriel] Martinelli had one run against Chelsea,\u00a0[Leandro] Trossard\u00a0is not doing anything on that left-hand side, [Bukayo] Saka has\u00a0pretty much disappeared\u00a0recently and Gyokeres\u00a0got a couple of goals the other\u00a0week\u00a0but you\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0trust him.<\/p>\n

\u2018So how are you going to break down these sides?\u00a0You\u2019ve\u00a0got an Arsenal side going forward who look as though they\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0break anyone down and Man City who look like they can and have so many options.<\/p>\n

\u2018If\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0Mikel Arteta, you got the\u00a0win\u00a0but you must be a little bit worried.\u2019<\/p>\n

Gyokeres endured an underwhelming start to his Arsenal career but has scored eight goals in 13 appearances, including a brace in last weekend\u2019s north London derby against Tottenham.<\/p>\n

The \u00a364m summer signing drew a blank on Sunday but Arsenal matchwinner Timber was keen to highlight Chelsea\u2019s quality after the match.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was tough,\u2019 he said. \u2018Chelsea are a great team they have amazing players so we\u2019re really happy to come out with three points.<\/p>\n

\u2018The first half going in at 1-1 was a bit of a shame. We didn\u2019t give much away. We were quite dominant. You have to score more goals.<\/p>\n

\u2018Both sides were really good, it was a nice game to watch for the fans and our crowd got us through it and the three points were very important.\u2019<\/p>\n

Arsenal continue their Premier League title charge on Wednesday night with a trip to Brighton, who have won their last two games.<\/p>\n
