Crowds at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing couldn\u2019t help but stop and stare at the gigantic, dark gray robot, which took up as much room as a large motorcycle but was propelled by four mechanical legs instead. A rider sat on the saddle, hands firmly clutching the handlebars, and the whole thing was propelled forward, albeit with all the subtlety of a toddler beginning to walk, in purposeful but shaky steps. That beast is the Qiji X1, and people are already able to buy one (or two).<\/p>\n

DaxAI Robotics made its debut in Beijing sometime around May 2025. Wang Kun, the guy behind it all, has been experimenting with robotics and self-driving cars for over a decade, beginning when he worked at JD.com. He and his co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Xu Wenqiang, form an exceptional team. Xu attended the University of Science and Technology of China\u2019s talented program before pursuing an advanced degree in artificial intelligence. Their youthful team decided to go all out and construct the Qiji X1 as a proof-of-concept for a four-legged \u2018ride\u2019, which is effectively a four-legged horse that can be mounted.<\/p>\n

    \nThe beast weights around 300 kg (661 lbs) on its own, but it is built to withstand an additional 300 kg of tension. So you can put a couple of average-sized persons on it and it won\u2019t become overloaded. Legs are driven by electric motors, and you may expect roughly 40 km of range on a single charge, with a top speed of about 10 km\/h. It\u2019s not the quickest thing in the world, but that wasn\u2019t the idea. The Qiji X1 is designed to be effective in environments where wheels would struggle, such as steep hills, loose gravel, and soft mud. The business advertises it as an all-terrain intelligent mount, essentially a horse for short rides through forests, grasslands, or your own private estate.<\/p>\n
