The company described a dual-layer shield of titanium alloy film and plate sitting right behind the main folding screen, thin enough that the film measures about one-third the thickness of a human hair, stiff enough to cut crease depth and raise durability. He tried heat, isopropyl alcohol, and delicate prying, but ultimately he scrambled some pixels and snapped a ribbon cable. It costs $579 to replace the entire inside screen. Then there\u2019s a layer of top plastic film, followed by a layer of ultra-thin glass that was fractured and showed signs of age. However, beneath that is the OLED screen itself, which is securely attached to a titanium backing. It\u2019s worth noting that Samsung teased a honeycomb-patterned hollow construction in their launch clips, but Nelson was unable to find any trace of it. He wondered if it was a feature reserved for the Ultra model only. However, it was discovered that the existence of that metal could be determined only using heat. Nelson had a sample of grade 5 titanium on hand and used it to test for the real thing, and everything came back positive since the discoloration was a match for authentic titanium, pattern or not.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.techeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/13002821\/samsung-galaxy-z-fold8-teardown-disassembly-1.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Teardown Disassembly\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><br \/>The batteries proved much easier to access, as two of them fit snugly inside, each with a pull tab that allows you to simply lift them out without hassle. The bigger one claims 2,393 mAh on the label, whereas the smaller one says 2,267 mAh. They\u2019re both rated at around 4,660 mAh, but they still have the lithium-ion labeling on the packaging. However, they use silicon-carbon anode material, which can pack a lot more punch into the same space, and there\u2019s a wireless charging coil on the back that can reverse-charge small devices at up to 4.5 watts.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.techeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/13002827\/samsung-galaxy-z-fold8-teardown-disassembly-2.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Teardown Disassembly\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><br \/>This phone\u2019s hinge has also been redesigned, with an exterior spine running around the outside and connecting to three inside geared portions. Nelson preferred to call them the \u2018vertebrae,\u2019 for lack of a better term. Six screws hold those pieces in place, while another 18 maintain the spine rigid. When you add all of these together, you get 56. This time, however, the modular layout contains fewer segments than the prior fold generation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.techeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/13002834\/samsung-galaxy-z-fold8-teardown-disassembly-3.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Teardown Disassembly\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><br \/>Its stereo speakers use internal chambers to improve sound. The primary board houses a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which is kept cool with thermal paste and a graphite pad. There is no vapor chamber on this conventional model, however.
