Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has \u2018no plans\u2019 to leave this summer despite calls for him to do so following a frustrating individual season.<\/p>\n

Once arguably Arsenal\u2019s most important player, Odegaard\u2019s influence at the Emirates Stadium appears to be on the decline.<\/p>\n

Injuries and a dip in form has resulted in Odegaard starting less than half of Arsenal\u2019s league games and scoring just once in 27 games in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2021, also faces even more competition for a place in the team following Eberechi Eze\u2019s \u00a367.5m move from Crystal Palace last summer.<\/p>\n

Eze has largely flattered to deceive for the Gunners but was hailed for his performance in Sunday\u2019s north London derby win over Tottenham, in which he scored twice.<\/p>\n

A number of pundits urged Mikel Arteta to give Eze a run in the team following his derby heroics despite Odegaard\u2019s return to fitness.<\/p>\n

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol and former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf even advised Odegaard to leave Arsenal this summer, claiming he is no longer an \u2018influential\u2019 player for Arteta.<\/p>\n

\u2018Odegaard might be leaving Arsenal,\u2019 Nicol told ESPN. \u2018If you\u2019re him, the club captain and 18 months ago you were the guy.<\/p>\n

\u2018All of a sudden\u00a0\u2013 and\u00a0I know\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0had some injuries \u2013\u00a0but there\u2019s question marks over whether he\u00a0actually starts\u00a0because of Eze.<\/p>\n

\u2018And maybe\u00a0because of the way\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0been playing, someone else might get ahead of him as well.\u00a0So\u00a0if\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0Martin Odegaard, do you stick around? I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0think you do.\u2019<\/p>\n

Leboeuf added: \u2018I agree, I agree.\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0always liked Martin Odegaard\u00a0and\u00a0the way he plays\u00a0because\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0very elegant, but\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0not influential anymore.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s\u00a0there to start the action, to distribute the ball\u00a0horizontally. But with Eze right now the moves are not the same,\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0more vertical, more influential and\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0going to help\u00a0[Viktor] Gyokeres too.<\/p>\n

\u2018So\u00a0it will be\u00a0a\u00a0hard time\u00a0for\u00a0Odegaard\u00a0and he will have to make\u00a0a\u00a0very good\u00a0choice, a big choice, at the end of the season.\u2019<\/p>\n

\n

While Odegaard has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, the Norwegian has \u2018no plans\u2019 to leave in the summer and remains an integral member of Arteta\u2019s squad, according to Football London.<\/p>\n

Now back fit, Odegaard is said to be \u2018determined\u2019 to win back his place in the team and help Arsenal not only win trophies this season but going forward.<\/p>\n

Arteta is also believed to be happy with Odegaard, who despite his lack of goals this season has contributed five assists, and is confident he will contribute to Arsenal\u2019s title charge over the next two months.<\/p>\n

The Gunners, who last won the Premier League in 2004, are five points clear of second-placed Manchester City ahead of Sunday\u2019s London derby against Chelsea.<\/p>\n

While Arsenal\u2019s priority is the league, they are still in the hunt for a stunning quadruple as they aim to go deep in the Champions League following a flawless group stage.<\/p>\n

Their first chance to win a trophy this season will come next month when they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, while they are also still in contention to win the FA Cup.<\/p>\n
