\t<\/div>Frank Sinclair believes that Liam Rosenior must root out Chelsea\u2019s ill-discipline or face missing out on Champions League football come the end of the season.<\/p>\n
Cheslea dropped dropped two costly points last weekend as an injury-time strike from Zian Flemming saw them held to a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened\u00a0Burnley.<\/p>\n
The Blues had been in control before Wesley Fofana\u2019s second-half sending off allowed Scott Parker\u2019s side to work their way back into the encounter and find an equaliser.<\/p>\n
And while Fofana\u2019s dismissal was the first under Rosenior, sending offs have proved a constant Achilles heel for the club over the past few seasons.<\/p>\n
Chelsea are on course to record the league\u2019s worst disciplinary record for the second time in three seasons, while their six red cards so far this campaign are the most of any side (Everton are in second with four).<\/p>\n
And Sinclair fears that his former side\u2019s \u2018lack of self-control\u2019 may come back to haunt them as the race for a top-five finish hots up.<\/p>\n

If we want to win games, you make it an uphill battle in an instant of a game when a player gets sent off.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018And long-term as well, if players are getting yellows regularly as well, they\u2019re going to miss games later on in the season, which will be a problem when it comes to that race for the top four. So, I\u2019m sure he would have touched on the discipline that they\u2019ve got to improve on.\u2019<\/p>\n Speaking after the draw with Burnley, the Chelsea boss said: \u2018Our discipline since I\u2019ve come in, which is what I only speak on, has been very good<\/p>\n \u2018That was an unfortunate red card for Wes; he stepped in on a challenge. <\/p>\n \u2018You\u2019re going to get red cards. It\u2019s too many, for sure. But in my time with the group, I think our discipline record has been very good up to now.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Sinclair continued: \u2018Sometimes it\u2019s unlucky, but, you know, when you look at the recent red cards of Chelsea, it has been a little bit of a lack of self-control. <\/p>\n \u2018So I\u2019m sure he\u2019s touching on that with the players. I\u2019ve been in dressing rooms where it\u2019s happened before and players speak to players and say, come on, but you can even break it down now with the analysis systems that the football clubs have got now.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018You can break it down and try and work out why these things are happening. Is it because of the defensive shape and players relying on last-ditch tackles and stuff like that? You can break it down in analysis to help the players as well.\u2019<\/p>\n Chelsea currently sit fifth in the table, but face a testing run of games over the next six weeks. This weekend\u2019s trip to Arsenal is followed by a visit to Aston Villa in midweek, with matches against Manchester City and Manchester United looming on the horizon.<\/p>\n But Sinclair believes that a tough schedule could actually prove to Chelsea\u2019s advantage, adding: \u2018My thought, if I were in the Chelsea camp, is your destiny\u2019s in your own hands playing these big games. <\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019ve been a player and you don\u2019t have to get up for those big games. The games that I worry about is the teams that are potentially looking at trying to stay in the league, that are in relegation battles.<\/p>\n \u2018Those are the ones that players can switch off and think there\u2019s an easy three points here, and really not turn up on the day. They can be difficult games.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018But when you\u2019re playing against Arsenal, Aston Villa, Newcastle and teams like that, you know how important these games are. And if you win those games, then you\u2019re putting the destiny in your own hands. <\/p>\n \u2018I would look at it that way. I\u2019d rather play the teams around us then hoping for them not to get a result. Do it yourself.
