Glenn Hoddle has implored Chelsea to sign \u2018a couple of really experienced players\u2019 in the summer transfer window, naming John Stones as the perfect \u2018character\u2019 to come in and help a \u2018disillusioned\u2019 squad.<\/p>\n

Managerless Chelsea find themselves languishing down in ninth and in a state of disarray after a wretched Premier League campaign, which has cost them a place in next year\u2019s Champions League.<\/p>\n

A shock victory over Manchester City in this weekend\u2019s FA Cup final would give fans something to cheer about at the end of what has been a gruelling season \u2013 but any celebrations may be short-lived if questions over the ownership remain unanswered.<\/p>\n

Both\u00a0Enzo Fernandez\u00a0and\u00a0Marc Cucurella have gone public with their frustrations about key decisions being made at the top, with the latter pointing to a distinct lack of experience inside the Chelsea dressing room.<\/p>\n

BlueCo\u2019s much-maligned transfer model means Chelsea now have the youngest squad in the entire Premier League \u2013 and there are calls for this to be addressed once a deal for Liam Rosenior\u2019s permanent successor has been wrapped up.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Metro last month, Joe Cole named the soon-to-be out-of-contract Stones as a wise old head who could come in and help set an example for the rest of the squad.<\/p>\n

Former Chelsea and England manager Hoddle, giving his thoughts on TNT Sports\u2019 The Breakdown, echoed Cole\u2019s comments about the 31-year-old England defender, who will be available on a free transfer in a month\u2019s time.<\/p>\n

\u2018They need a couple of really experienced players that want to be there, but they\u2019re good apples, they\u2019re not bad apples,\u2019 Hoddle said.<\/p>\n

\u2018John Stones is going to move. He\u2019s a certainty\u2026 I\u2019d be going left, right and centre to get him.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s a good character, a good player still.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ex-England and City centre-back Joleon Lescott, sitting alongside Hoddle, was in full agreement, suggesting Stones would command the instant \u2018respect\u2019 of Chelsea\u2019s squad were he to join.<\/p>\n

\u2018I would sign him for Chelsea,\u2019 Lescott explained.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s a top professional, top player, he\u2019d have the respect of the group because of what he\u2019s done, he\u2019s achieved more than what they\u2019ve achieved as a group.<\/p>\n

\u2018Someone like that would be an easy sell.\u2019<\/p>\n

According to Hoddle, though, the make-up of the dressing room and the choice of manager will matter little if Chelsea\u2019s ownership fail to change their methods.<\/p>\n

\u2018It doesn\u2019t matter who is manager,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Thomas Tuchel should never, ever have walked out of that club. There was interference and that\u2019s why he went into his staff and went, \u201cPack your bags, boys! We\u2019re off\u201d, because he was being told how to play.<\/p>\n

\u2018Come on! He won the Champions League for them<\/p>\n

Hoddle continued: \u2018I think there is a disillusionment within the players at the people above, at the top.<\/p>\n

\u2018Yes, Chelsea have changed so many managers over the years, they go through managers left, right and centre, but they bring in trophies all the time. Even last year they brought in two trophies.<\/p>\n

\u2018If I was at Chelsea now I\u2019d call for a meeting with everyone. The owners, the players and the management and the staff ought to talk and thrash this out because there\u2019s only one way it\u2019s going to go and that\u2019s on a downward spiral.<\/p>\n

\u2018I can\u2019t see them having that sort of mentality at the moment, that spirit around the camp to have any chance of beating Manchester City.\u2019<\/p>\n

Chelsea \u2013 led by interim boss Calum McFarlane \u2013 enter this weekend\u2019s FA Cup final as massive underdogs up against the might of Pep Guardiola, who is looking to lift the famous trophy for a third time.<\/p>\n

And while Hoddle refused to completely rule out their chances, the former Chelsea boss admits it would be a \u2018big shock\u2019 if City were to come out second best at Wembley.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think Chelsea have got to play at their very, very, vest best on the break,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018It would be a big shock [if Chelsea won], The gap is bigger than ever.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think Manchester City will win.\u2019<\/p>\n
